A Letter from Auberle Chief Administrative Officer, Monica Fletcher

Dear Auberle Community,

I am honored to share this edition of Abloom with you. Year after year, spring returns to remind us that renewal finds us right where we are. What lay dormant was never gone. It was only gathering strength, readying for the right conditions to thrive. That is the work we do at Auberle: creating the conditions for those we serve to thrive.

This quarter, our programs honored history and invested in the future. Black History Month programming brought our communities together in meaningful ways, and the 412 Youth Zone Etiquette Dinner gave young people practical tools for professional success. Our YouthBuild Mental Health Initiative, developed in partnership with The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is expanding access to behavioral health support for youth who need it most. Rolling applications are open, and we encourage you to share this opportunity within your networks.

The strength of our programs begins with the strength of our people. We recently honored exceptional staff at our Employee Recognition Event and celebrated multiple external awards and leadership positions for staff members across the agency, whose community dedication makes everything else possible.

None of this happens without you. Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Donor Appreciation Dinner and to all who contributed to our We Heart Our Community Campaign. We are also excited to share our Investors Circle Business Partnership levels, a new way for organizations to deepen their impact and connect with valuable services from Auberle's Employment Institute. We invite you to explore these partnership opportunities inside this edition.

At Auberle, we are honored to walk alongside the young people and families who trust us, season after season. We hope you will continue that journey with us. Mark your calendars for Voices Carry on October 6, 2026.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Monica Fletcher, CAO, Auberle

Auberle Programs in Action!

YouthBuild Supports Mental Health with New Partnership

Auberle’s Employment Institute YouthBuild Cohort recently kicked off their program year with support from The Mentoring Partnership of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Cohort members explored mental health as a bedrock for personal and professional success, establishing shared tools to support them on their YouthBuild journey. Throughout 2026, these YouthBuilders will strengthen both hard and soft skills to be successful in a trade that supports their long-term goals.

Agency Celebrates Black History Month with Education and Creative Expression

Throughout February 2026, Auberle celebrated Black History Month with opportunities for program participants to deepen their connection to Pittsburgh's Black History and express their creativity. See highlights from our full calendar of events:

At Auberle’s 412 Youth Zone, youth engaged with a Pittsburgh Black History Walk of Fame, collaborative mural painting, an open studio honoring the legacy of Pittsburgh’s Black radio DJs, and toured the Senator John Heinz History Center and August Wilson Cultural Center.

At Auberle Independent Living, participants created self-portraits inspired by the artistry of Jean-Michel Basquiat and competed in an olympics-themed Black History Month activity.

Auberle's 412 Youth Zone Empowers with Annual Etiquette Dinner

Auberle's 412 Youth Zone recently hosted its annual Etiquette Dinner, where young people had the opportunity to practice dining etiquette in a welcoming, supportive environment.

The evening began with a social hour followed by a shared meal where participants learned practical skills — from table manners to professional communication — that can help them feel confident in school, work, and community settings.

Recognizing and Honoring our Staff

The Auberle staff show up with compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to our clients each day. In February, we honored their service with our annual Employee Recognition event!

Congratulations to the Housing Family Emergency Shelter team on earning the employee-nominated Bulldog Award. This outstanding team brought innovative family mental health services to clients, helping parents and caregivers build deeper connections with their children.

Auberle also honored multiple employees who have been serving the agency for 10-30 years.

Your impact. Our gratitude.

Thank you to all who joined our Donor Appreciation Dinner! To close out our February 2026 We ❤️ Our Community campaign, donors in attendance wrote Valentines to the Auberle community, sharing what Auberle means to them.

Thank you to all who submitted to this February campaign on social media. We collected Auberle Valentines from across the agency including staff, participants, and community partners. View submissions here, here, and here.
